Arlington County Board Unanimously Approved Use Permit for Year-Round Homeless Services Center
On Saturday, March 16, 2013, the Arlington County Board voted unanimously to approve a use permit that will allow the Homeless Services Center to create the dormitory area of the shelter. We are working with the County to open the Center as early as Fall 2014. The Center will have 50 year-round beds, an additional 25 emergency winter beds, and five medical respite beds.
This has been a process 20 years in the making since the current Emergency Winter Shelter building was opened for temporary use, and has taken the advocacy efforts of many throughout the Arlington community. We offer our sincere thanks, and look forward to a center that will be a major step forward in providing continuity of care, linking clients to services, and helping people leave the streets for good.
