Help A-SPAN and G-Team Make It A Home:
A-SPAN & Groupon’s G-Team are Partnering This Week to turn empty apartments into homes for formerly
homeless people in Arlington!
From Tuesday, September 13th through Friday the 16th, The Make-It-A-Home campaign will be available on Groupon’s Washington, DC G-Team page.
Groupon followers can pledge $10 toward the purchase of a brand-new bed set for one of A-SPAN’s clients who is exiting homelessness. A-SPAN needs at least 50 donations to activate the deal so please donate below and share with friends!
100% of the G-Team campaign proceeds will be used to purchase these beds. G-Team is a community outreach initiative by Groupon that brings communities to do good, have fun, and make an impact. With our partnership in the 100 Homes Campaign, A-SPAN will be housing many more people very soon. The impact of a brand-new bed delivered to a formerly homeless person when they move in is immeasurable. A client of ours recently shared what it meant to have a place of his own:
“The first time I went into my own apartment, holding my keys in my hand…I felt something heavy lift off of me…I just stood in the middle of it crying. God, it’s good to have a place.”
Despite that feeling, he was still afraid to stay at his place by himself for the next five days and continued to live elsewhere. Once he had a bed, couch, and things of his own, he moved in and has been safely housed for over a year and a half.
