Street Outreachstreet outreach

A-SPAN's services begin with street outreach. Street Outreach Staff frequent wooded areas, parks, underpasses, abandoned buildings and other areas to meet with homeless people where they live. The latest Point In Time Survey conducted in Arlington revealed that 451 people are experiencing homelessness in the county. Street Outreach Staff provide clothing, blankets and personal hygiene supplies to people in need, people they initially find or those they regularly see.

This helps build trust with homeless people and forms the basis of a long-term relationship. Outreach workers then encourage people to visit Opportunity Place where they can access a range of services in addition to having their emergency needs met.

Outreach Staff are available to answer calls from concerned citizens regarding homeless individuals.

Please call A-SPAN at 703-820-HELP (4357) to get assistance.

A-SPAN provides Street Outreach in the Rosslyn area of Arlington through a partnership with and the support of the Rosslyn BID. This is an example of a community member getting involved to help one of Arlington's most vunerable populations.
