ARLINGTON, VA – JULY 10, 2015 – A-SPAN has been named one of five finalists for the 2015 Board Leadership Award. The five finalists include A-SPAN, City Blossoms, Global Impact, Leadership Arlington, and National Center for Children and Families. The Board Leadership Award is a program of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement presented by CohnReznick LLP with educational support from BoardSource.
“A-SPAN is honored to have been chosen as a finalist for such a prestigious recognition. I am proud the board’s leadership has been recognized for its innovative practices,” says Kathleen Sibert, A-SPAN President/CEO. Sibert notes “that without the board’s leadership and good governance, A-SPAN couldn’t make the impact it does in the Arlington community.”
“High performing Boards can make the difference for operations, outcomes and the overall sustainability of nonprofits,” said Center CEO Glen O’Gilvie. “Our competition identifies organizations exhibiting good governance and innovative practices that can be shared, influencing a stronger nonprofit sector. We are motivated by the dynamic leadership of our 2015 nominees and proud to acknowledge A-SPAN as a finalist.”
The 2015 Board Leadership Award winner will receive a $10,000 grant; communication exposure through print, radio, television and social media; and training and development opportunities for the board and CEO from BoardSource and through the Center’s Learning & Leadership Institute.
A-SPAN’s vision is to end homelessness in Arlington County. A-SPAN’s mission is to secure permanent housing and provide life-sustaining services for Arlington’s most vulnerable individuals through outreach and relationships built on trust and respect
