Street Outreach

A-SPAN’s services begin with street outreach. Street Outreach Staff frequent wooded areas, parks, underpasses, abandoned buildings and other areas to meet with people experiencing homelessness where they live. The latest Point In Time Count conducted in Arlington revealed that 451 people are experiencing homelessness in the county. Street Outreach Staff provide clothing, blankets, personal hygiene supplies, and shower vouchers to people in need.

Thoughtful outreach helps build trust with our neighbors on the street, and forms the basis of a long-term relationship. Outreach workers then encourage clients to visit Opportunity Place, where they can access a range of services in addition to having their emergency needs met.

Outreach Staff are available to answer calls from concerned citizens regarding individuals who may be homeless or in need.

Call A-SPAN at 703-820-HELP (4357) to get assistance.

A-SPAN provides Street Outreach in the Rosslyn area of Arlington through a partnership with and the support of the Rosslyn Business Improvement District. This is an example of a member of the business community getting involved to help one of Arlington’s most vunerable populations.
